Anaerobic energy in the 10 step reaction

Intro

Glycolysis is the process of converting glucose into energy which takes place inside the cell where glycogen is used as a glucose source. No oxygen is required.

Glycolysis is the base pathway in the anaerobic lactate energy system.

2 ATP molecules are generated as a result of 10 consecutive steps.

Formula

Step 1. Phosphorylation of glucose -> G6P

Step 2. Glucose 6-phosphate (G6P) -> Fructose 6-phosphate (F6P)

Step 3. Fructose 6-phosphate (F6P) -> Fructose 1,6-bisphosphate (F1,6BP)

Step 4. Fructose 1,6-bisphosphate (F1,6BP) -> Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (GAPD) + Dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP)

Step 5. Dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) -> Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (GAPD)

Step 6. Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (GAPD) -> 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate (1,3BPG)

Step 7. 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate (1,3BPG) -> 3-phosphoglycerate (3PG)

Step 8. 3-phosphoglycerate (3PG) -> 2-phosphoglycerate (2PG)

Step 9. 2-phosphoglycerate (2PG) -> Phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP)

Step 10. Phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) -> Pyruvate
